Seven years of
accurate care. Now
building accurate data.

I'm Ahmad Zia Nasrat, a Registered Nurse with 7+ years of clinical documentation and record-keeping experience across hospital and humanitarian settings. I'm applying that same discipline — accuracy, consistency, confidentiality — to a growing set of data skills: SQL, Excel, and health information systems like DHIS2 and Epi Info.

About

Accurate care first. Now applying that discipline to data.

Over 7 years in clinical and emergency healthcare settings have taught me that reliable information is a discipline, not an instinct — built record by record, shift by shift. From general medical-surgical nursing at Zubair Hospital to trauma and emergency care with Emergency NGO's surgical centre in Lashkar Gah, I kept patient records complete, consistent, and confidential even when the ward was full, and regularly compiled the departmental and statistical reports medical teams relied on. Earlier this year I was selected for the reserve pool following an MSF Nursing Team Supervisor recruitment process (Helmand). That process, and the recordkeeping at the centre of my clinical work, pointed me toward something I want to pursue more directly: the data side of healthcare. I'm now building applied SQL and Excel skills through self-directed projects, with a growing interest in data entry, data quality, and the health information systems — DHIS2, Epi Info, and similar platforms — that keep medical teams working from accurate, trustworthy data.

Data Projects

Practicing on real healthcare data.

Alongside clinical work, I practice SQL and Excel on real and synthetic healthcare datasets. Both projects are public on GitHub.

SELECT * FROM readmissions;

01 — Hospital Readmissions

SQL-based exploratory analysis of a hospital readmissions dataset — identifying patterns in patient readmission rates through structured queries and aggregation.

02 — Synthea EHR

Data cleaning and query design practice on a synthetic electronic health records dataset (Synthea), working toward realistic clinical data structures.
